One of the
most
important
things I do in
individual
and group
therapy with
Motherless
Daughters, is help them
to feel “normal”.
When you grow up
without your Mom, that is
not a normal experience.
As a result, we tend to
develop differently than
women and girls who
have their mothers.  What
is normal for us isn’t for
them.
I invite you to spend
some time on this site
and read the reflections,
the blog, the comments
and this piece I wrote for
The Huffington Post.  You
are not alone.
Individual psychotherapy, support groups
& social events for the Motherless Daughter
If you experienced early mother loss, and you were
23 years old or younger, we are here for you.
Hope Edelman wrote the first book to address what it’s like to grow up motherless.  That book,
Motherless Daughters, The Legacy of Loss, came out in 1994. Before that, there was nothing written
that tied it all that together for us.  Finally we had a name, “Motherless Daughters”, and a framework
in which to understand ourselves.
As a motherless daughter myself, and already a licensed psychotherapist, I saw the need to have a
group for motherless women in Los Angeles.  Since 1996 I have been providing specialized
individual psychotherapy, support groups and events for motherless daughters in the Los Angeles
area.
If you, or someone you know, is in Los Angeles and would like more information about Motherless
Daughters, please feel free to make                  with me.
While there is nothing that can heal this type of a loss, I want you to know that you are not alone.
We understand and perhaps we can ease the pain just a little.
